NAHJNU’s Vice President Mariana Alfaro’s Investigation on the Central American Minors Program

NAHJNU Vice President Mariana Alfaro wrote a feature for Salvadoran newspaper La Prensa Gráfica about the Central American Minors Program, which was created by the United States government to offer asylum to children of legal Central American migrants.

“Al lanzar el programa Menores Centroamericanos, Estados Unidos abrió oportunidad a miles de niños salvadoreños, hondureños y guatemaltecos de reunirse con sus padres en suelo estadounidense bajo estatus de refugiados. Pero específicos requisitos legales, largos periodos de espera y pocas plazas disponibles han hecho del programa una salvación para un bajo porcentaje de menores en riesgo.”
